Lisa's recipe share

Here is my husband, Ian, enjoying some Jamie Oliver's potato salad.

Jamie Oliver's Potato Salad

Boil a bunch of creamer potatoes (or young potatoes) until tender. Do this by adding the potatoes into boiling salted water instead of starting off in cold water. I like to really boil them so they are very tender, but not water logged.

While they are boiling, add the zest and juice of one lemon. Add olive oil to a ratio of 1:4 lemon to oil. Add salt and pepper and 3 tbsp of capers.

Add the cooked potatoes to the oil mixture and toss. Cut any bigger potatoes into smaller chunks. Cool the potatoes until about room temperature. Add fresh chopped dill and a couple big spoonfuls of horseradish. Mix and adjust to taste.

This potato salad goes well with everything, but is best suited to being served with salmon.

Sorry there are no true measurements, but that seems to be how cooking shows go these days. I have made it lots and each time it turns out very tastey, so exact amounts don't really affect the taste!! Good luck and enjoy!

Brennan and Buster

This is a pic of Buster, our Australian Shepherd, making sure lil Brennan isn't getting into trouble...

This is one great dog, he lets Bren pull on his fur, poke his eyes, and grab his lips all without a backward glance! Every chance he gets, he'll lay down next to Brennan while he's playing on the floor.

Kiya and the kids

As you can see, this is an old picture! This is Kiya (pronounced like pie-a) and she is 6 years old. Although she doesn't look like one, she is a samoyed. My husband likes to keep her hair short, especially in the summer. She can be a pest, and a brat, but she is good with the kids. They try to ride her, and she just looks at me like...Um, could you get them off me, please! We have to put a lock on our fridge, because she can open it and she eats all the food!

Ellie's Kitty

A while back this cat wandered into our yard while we were outside one evening. It was the friendliest cat I've ever seen! It just came right up and let us pet it and it purred and was sweet as can be. It even let Ellie come near and pet it and chase it around the yard. She had a blast and it didn't seem to mind the attention, either.

It's been a couple weeks now since the kitty first showed up and he's still around. He's finished off almost a bag of cat food (left over from last year's transient kitties) and he shows up most evenings to say hi. Yesterday I had Ellie in the stroller in the garage before we went on a walk and she started saying "meow, meow". Sure enough, the cat was in the garage. I guess he thinks he's ours now... at least until we run out of cat food.

Liam and Domo, our friend's new puppy!

Favorite Patriotic Picture- Canada Day!

Here is my favorite picture of Liam on Canada Day; July 1st. He's got his flag, Canada Tshirt and his Cariboo. Very Canadian!! We didn't last until the fireworks. Oh, well. Maybe next year!!

Favorite Patriotic Pictures

This is a photo of my daughter on the 4th of July. She is just shy of 1 year (born the 19th) and she LOVED waving her little flag around! We took her to see the fireworks in the mountains and she loved them. We were afraid she would be scared by the noise, but she wasn't! In fact, when it was all over (almost 3 hours after her bedtime) she looked at me and clapped. My husband got some great pictures of the fireworks and I posted them on our family blog here.

Favorite Patriotic Pic!

Sorry so late, but I guess better late than never! The babies loved their 4th of July flags! Of course they had no idea what it meant, but they loved the fact that Mommy gave them something cool to play with! Hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th!

Favorite Patriotic Pic!

We went to a parade and saw lots of fun things! Lia like Ronald McDonald best and Christian thought the fire trucks were too loud! I'm not sure why they both have their mouths open, but it makes a cute picture!
